Update: Getting the Latest Version

Our system is comprised of two distinct parts: the Web App and the Chrome Extension.
Both of these will update automatically when we deploy new versions, but when they update depends on your system and when the currently cached version decides to expire.
This article walks you through the process of forcing either the Web App or the Chrome Extension to update when you know there's a new version and want to get it immediately.

Please note that the Web App and Chrome Extensions are two separate programs and their version numbers are tracked separately.
The version number for the Web App will NOT be the same as the version number for the Chrome Extension.

Updating the Web App

  1. Refresh the page
  2. Check the version number in the bottom left corner of the page (in the sidebar)
  3. If the version number doesn't match the latest version number we have announced, you can do a deeper refresh by:
    1. Pressing CTRL+Shift+R on Windows, or
    2. Pressing Command+R on a Mac
  4. You may need to do this several times before the version number will increment, meaning you now have the latest version.

Updating the Chrome Extension

  1. You can confirm the current version you have by clicking the icon in the toolbar
    1. The version number is displayed in the bottom right corner of the popup window
  2. Right-click on the extension icon in the top right toolbar in Chrome
  3. Click on "Manage Extensions"
  4. Make sure the "Developer Mode" toggle is turned ON in the top right corner of the screen
  5. Click the "Update" button
    1. This will update ALL of your extensions, and might take a while.
    2. If the update sits there for too long, you can try refreshing the page after a minute or so and confirm that the Version number has changed for GroupTrack
