Contact Sync

Contact-Level Integration

In previous versions of GroupTrack, Contacts were synced to third party systems as a part of Pipeline or Tag sync events. If a Contact in GroupTrack was added to a Pipeline, or a Tag was added to a Contact, we would do a Contact sync as part of those event actions.

With this update, there is now a completely separate "Contact Sync" event that manages Contacts being added to GroupTrack or an email add/update event, independent of any Pipeline or Tag integrations. This update seems minor, but has significant implications for the process of keeping contacts in sync across systems.

Importantly, you can now choose to sync contacts to systems where you do not have Pipeline integrations, or for contacts who are not in synchronized Pipelines.

Contacts will no longer be synchronized when they get an email address added JUST based on them also being in an integrated Pipeline. Pipelines sync triggers are now isolated to Pipeline events. You must also set up a Contact-level integration to the system you want the contacts pushed to in order to capture that email update event.

Note: If a Contact already has an email address and a Pipeline event occurs on an integrated Pipeline, the Contact will still be created first if they don't already exist in the third party system. This change is only targeted at capturing the initial contact creation event and contact info updates independently from Pipeline or Tag events.
