Getting the Latest Version

GroupTrack CRM consists of two separate components: the Web App and the Chrome Extension. Each part updates automatically when new versions are released. However, the timing of these updates can vary depending on your system settings and when the currently cached version expires.

This guide will walk you through the process of forcing either the Web App or the Chrome Extension to update when a new version is available and you want to ensure you're using the latest version immediately.

What are the Web App and Chrome Extension?

  • Web App: The Web App is where you manage your GroupTrack CRM settings, pipelines, contacts, and more.
  • Chrome Extension: The Chrome Extension integrates GroupTrack's functionality directly into social media platforms.

These two parts are separate programs with their own version numbers, which are tracked independently. Therefore, the Web App and Chrome Extension will have different version numbers.

How to Update the Web App

  1. Refresh the Page:

The easiest way to update the Web App is by refreshing the page.

    Check the Version Number:

The Web App’s version number is displayed in the bottom left corner of the page (in the sidebar).

    Force a Deeper Refresh:

If refreshing the page doesn't update the version number to the latest one we’ve announced, you can perform a deeper refresh by:

    • Pressing CTRL + Shift + R on Windows.
    • Pressing Command + Shift + R on a Mac.

You may need to repeat this process several times until the version number increments, indicating that you now have the latest version.

How to Update the Chrome Extension

  1. Check the Current Version:

To check the version of the Chrome Extension you have installed, click on the GroupTrack extension icon in your browser toolbar. The version number will appear in the bottom right corner of the popup window.

  2. Access Chrome's Extension Management:

Right-click the GroupTrack extension icon in your browser toolbar and select "Manage Extensions."

  3. Enable Developer Mode:

Once you're on the extension management page, make sure the "Developer Mode" toggle in the top right corner of the screen is turned ON.

  4. Update the Extension:

Click the "Update" button. This will update all of your installed extensions, including GroupTrack.

  5. Confirm the Update:

If the update seems to take too long, try refreshing the page after a minute. You can confirm that the GroupTrack extension has been updated by checking that the version number has changed in the popup window.

Why This Process is Important

Staying up to date with the latest version of GroupTrack CRM ensures that you're benefiting from the newest features, enhancements, and fixes. Forcing updates, rather than waiting for automatic updates, is particularly useful when a new version is released, and you want immediate access to it. Keeping both the Web App and Chrome Extension updated guarantees optimal performance and compatibility with your social media platforms.
